Stuart Brotman joined the firm as a partner in 2006. He is a member of the Toronto office's Insolvency and Restructuring Group.
Prior to joining Fasken Martineau, Stuart was a member of the Restructuring and Insolvency Group of a prestigious commercial law firm based in Toronto. He has acted in all nature of insolvency proceedings involving both public and private companies including Calpine Corp., Muscletech Research and Development Inc., Stelco, Bowring stores, Air Canada and AT&T Canada. In these and other proceedings Stuart has represented a broad range of stakeholders including debtors, financial institutions, investment funds, suppliers, landlords, monitors, receivers and trustees in bankruptcy. Stuart also represents these types of clients in corporate reorganizations and disputes relating to mergers and acquisition transactions.
Before he began his career in law Stuart was a member of the insolvency department of a mid-sized Toronto accounting firm. He has contributed to a number of texts and articles relating to insolvency and debtors' rights.
