Dr. Serge Lapointe has solid expertise in the protection of intellectual property assets, a field in which he has practiced for more than ten (10) years. Dr. Lapointe specializes in appraising patent portfolios in the life sciences sector, more specifically in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and chemistry. His five (5) years of experience in a corporate environment have honed his awareness of the specific needs of the pharmaceutical industry and furnished him with a significant body of knowledge on the numerous scientific and legal considerations tied to the development of new drugs.
Serge Lapointe devotes most of his time to drafting patent applications and preparing opinions for the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and chemical industries. He has been actively involved in obtaining protection for various kinds of inventions closely or distantly related to the medical field, including drafting and filing applications for patents on genes, proteins, antibiotics and transgenic plants and animals, as well as on innovative approaches to treating diabetes, obesity, neurological diseases and cancer. Dr. Lapointe has also been involved in numerous intellectual property due diligences carried out on behalf of institutional investors.
