Shahrooz Nabavi is a partner and a member of the Information Technology, Private Equity and Venture Capital and Corporate Commercial Practice Groups.

Shahrooz has an active transaction-oriented practice in the corporate finance, technology and corporate/commercial areas. He primarily advises and represents emerging and growth stage Canadian technology and clean technology companies, as well as the investors in such companies in respect of all financing and corporate and commercial matters.

In the corporate area, Shahrooz advises and represents companies, investor groups and investment funds in private corporate finance transactions involving debt and equity angel capital, venture capital, growth stage capital and strategic investments. Shahrooz acts for several private funds in respect of their establishment and their on-going corporate matters and investments. In addition, Shahrooz routinely represents and advises clients on all general corporate matters, reorganizations and in respect of mergers and acquisitions.

Shahrooz’s commercial practice is focused on acting for emerging, growth stage and institutional clients in transactions involving development and commercialization of intellectual property assets, including in respect of acquisition, development, licensing, manufacturing, and distribution arrangements, and related partnerships and affiliation arrangements and e-commerce and social media matters.

Prior to coming to the firm in Vancouver, Shahrooz practised both as an in house counsel at a major institutional entity and at the Calgary office of an international law firm. Shahrooz is an active member of the British Columbia technology ecosystem and supports emerging companies by continuously improving and tailoring service offerings to meet the unique challenges faced by entrepreneurs and in developing systems and product offerings to deliver innovative, predictable and cost efficient transaction services for companies and investors in such companies. Shahrooz routinely offers his time to provide advice and consultation to entrepreneurs in emerging companies. Shahrooz in pursuit of his belief that growth in economy requires success of entrepreneurs and investments in the ecosystem sits as member of the Board of Next Leaders of the British Columbia Business Council.

Shahrooz is a member of the British Columbia and Alberta law societies and represents clients in both jurisdictions.
