Litigation and Dispute Resolution Bulletin
November 2008

Our litigation and dispute resolution bulletin series is designed to demystify the litigation process. After a civil action proceeds through a number of preliminary stages, it goes to trial. Although recent statistics indicate that the vast majority of cases are settled without a trial, for those that do make it to trial, this is the stage where evidence is presented to either a judge or jury, and the issues in dispute are determined. In this bulletin, you will find information about the various procedural steps leading up to a trial, and how a trial is conducted.
