Nic Roodt is a recognized litigation and dispute resolution practitioner in South Africa. He has extensive experience in administrative law and tender reviews, mining law, constitutional disputes, construction and engineering dispute resolution, commercial litigation and forensic investigations. Nic is the Leader of the Litigation & Dispute Resolution group in the region.

With a practice predominantly comprised of contentious construction work, Nic has represented foreign companies in major litigious matters in South Africa, including acting for one of the largest contractors on two power expansion projects in the region. He also advises on the regulatory aspect of mining authorisations.  

Nic leverages his more than 30 years’ of experience to lecture annually on mining law at the University of Pretoria.

  • Alstom to review the PRASA tender,
  • Advised a major mining company in regard to a dispute arising from the implementation of mining legislation,
  • Advised a power station contractor in proceedings against the employer in relation to site labour agreement for approximately R800 million,
  • Advised an American furnace manufacturer in respect of a claim for a furnace failure,
  • Advised one of the operators of national toll roads on construction related disputes,
  • Advised Steinmüller Africa with regards to construction and engineering matters.,
  • Advised the South African National Roads Agency in tender review applications,
  • Advising a large power station contractor in damages claim for R480 million,
  • Advising a large power station contractor in proceedings against a subcontractor in relation to welding defects for approximately R1 billion,
