Danny Galarneau is an associate in the Corporate/Commercial group at the Québec City office. A seasoned litigator, Danny is one of the few lawyers handling tax litigation files in the Québec City region. He represents both individuals and corporations in dealings with the tax agencies concerning tax audits, objections to assessments, and appeals before the various competent courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada. Since the beginning of his career, Danny has been involved in major cases that raised very important financial issues.
His vast expertise encompasses various tax issues, including commercial transactions, liability of both corporations and directors, regulation, as well as tax obligations and their application.
Danny has over 20 years of experience as a tax litigator and has a thorough understanding of the legal issues clients may find themselves facing. He has the expertise and knowledge needed to provide clients with turnkey solutions during litigation against federal and provincial tax authorities related to tax audits, objections to assessments, and appeals before the competent courts.
Danny represents taxpayers before the Court of Québec (civil, criminal, and administrative divisions), the Superior Court of Québec (civil, criminal, and commercial divisions), the Court of Appeal of Québec, the Tax Court of Canada, the Federal Court, the Federal Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Canada.
He is also skilled in tax penal matters and defends clients’ interests during matters involving tax fraud, contraband tobacco, and other similar offences. Clients benefit from Danny’s experience acquired over the years, which allows him to quickly assess the situation to avoid useless debates and find a prompt solution.
Before joining Fasken, Danny was a tax litigator with Revenu Québec for over 14 years.
