Overview

Anthony (Tony) Baldanza practices general corporate/commercial law focussing on negotiated transactions (including joint ventures, partnerships, supply and distribution agreements and mergers and acquisitions), corporate reorganizations, competition law and foreign investment law.

Tony previously served as Chair and Co-Chair of Fasken’s Competition, Marketing & Foreign Investment Group. In his competition law practice, Tony provides advice and representation in relation to mergers, cartels, abuse of dominance and other restrictive trade practices. In his foreign investment practice, Tony advises foreign-controlled enterprises on the application of the Investment Canada Act – including its national security provisions – when establishing a new business or acquiring an existing business in Canada, and assists clients in clearing transactions through the relevant agencies. Tony is also adept in clearing transactions through Transport Canada pursuant to the Canada Transportation Act.

Tony’s expertise in competition and foreign investment law, including national security reviews, is highly regarded and listed in a wide range of reports and surveys. He is consistently recognized by legal directories including Chambers Canada, Chambers Global, Lexpert, The Best Lawyers in Canada and The Legal 500 Canada. Tony  is the past Chair of both the Foreign Investment Review Committee and the Mergers Committee of the Canadian Bar Association’s Competition Law Section.
