Tony’s business law practice is focused on competition law, foreign investment law and negotiated transactions. Working across a wide range of industries, Tony assists clients in clearing transactions through the Canadian Competition Bureau and through Canada’s foreign investment review regime.
In his competition law practice, Tony provides advice on mergers, criminal matters, and other restrictive trade practices. Tony regularly advises companies on how to structure distribution and licensing arrangements to avoid competition law problems, and counsels companies and professional and trade associations on the scope of permissible activities. He also provides advice on the establishment of new businesses and the acquisition of existing businesses by foreign enterprises.
A recognized expert on investment law, Tony advises foreign enterprises on the application of the Investment Canada Act when establishing a new business, or acquiring an existing businesses in Canada.
Tony also provides clients in relation to a wide range of negotiated transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate reorganizations and supply and distribution arrangements. He also regularly advises clients in relation to general corporate and commercial matters.
Ranked in Chambers Global, Chambers Canada and the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, Tony is a recognized expert on competition and foreign investment law issues. He is the past Chair of both the Foreign Investment Review Committee and Mergers Committee of the CBA Competition Law Section.
