Cheryl Biehler is the Assistant Director, Student Programs and Continuing Legal Education in the Toronto office. Cheryl manages all aspects of the student program, including the recruitment, training, mentorship and performance management of summer and articling students. Cheryl is also responsible for the coordination of the Continuing Legal Education program for the firm’s associate lawyers.
Prior to joining the Professional Development team, Cheryl was a summer and articling student at the firm, and joined Fasken’s Toronto Litigation and Dispute Resolution group as an associate in 2006. As an associate, Cheryl was engaged in a broad litigation practice, with a particular focus on class actions, commercial and contractual disputes, product liability and negligence. As a member of the Student Development Committee and Law School Liaison Committee, Cheryl was an active participant in the firm’s student recruitment activities, and acted as a mentor to numerous students and associates. Cheryl was also a committed volunteer at Pro Bono Ontario’s duty counsel program, providing assistance to unrepresented litigants at the Toronto Small Claims Court.
In addition to her legal experience, Cheryl brings to the role a background in public policy and professional regulation. Prior to law school, she earned a Master of Public Administration degree and worked in a variety of policy analyst roles in the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. More recently, Cheryl provided support to a professional regulatory body in Ontario with respect to complaints of professional misconduct.
