Danny Galarneau is a lawyer within the Tax group at our Quebec City Office. A skilled litigator, Danny is one of the few litigators in the Quebec City area who focuses specifically on tax litigation. In his practice, he represents both individuals and companies before revenue agencies in matters such as tax audits, objections to assessments and appeals before the various competent tribunals ranging up to the Supreme Court of Canada.
His extensive expertise covers various tax aspects, including commercial transactions, corporate and directors’ liability, regulations, tax obligations and their application.
For the past few years, Danny has been representing the interests of many poker players to ensure that their winnings remain lottery winnings for tax purposes. These cases are expected by dozens of players across Canada and the ruling will necessarily set a precedent.
Danny has expertise in criminal tax matters, defending his clients’ interests in relation to tax fraud, cigarette smuggling and other similar offences. The experience he has acquired in the course of his career makes him an advisor and a litigator with the ability to synthesize information, thus avoiding unnecessary disputes and finding a quick solution. A good negotiator, Danny always ensures that every angle of a case has been considered and analyzed before he takes the matter to court.
Before joining Fasken, Danny practised tax litigation with Revenu Québec for over 14 years.
