Dave is called to the bars of both Alberta and British Columbia and acts for energy and construction clients across Western Canada.
Dave provides pragmatic strategic advice to project proponents, owners, developers and EPC contractors with respect to project development and management, as well as complex construction disputes. He also has broad experience as a regulatory lawyer acting for public utilities and other energy companies with respect to energy infrastructure projects and the myriad of legal, regulatory and stakeholder issues that arise during their development and construction.
In his construction practice, Dave provides ongoing strategic project advice and dispute resolution to owners, contractors and suppliers with respect to tendering disputes, builders’ lien matters, construction contract disputes, delay claims and construction related tort claims.
Assisting utilities, electricity market participants and other energy companies, Dave advises on energy infrastructure project development and permitting as well as associated stakeholder, environmental and land matters necessary to successfully plan and complete energy projects. He also acts for electric utilities and other market participants in tariff, market compliance and market rules proceedings related to the Alberta and BC electricity industries.
Dave has appeared before all levels of Court in Alberta, various international and ad hoc arbitral tribunals and regularly appears before the Alberta Utilities Commission, British Columbia Utilities Commission, Canada Energy Regulator (formerly National Energy Board) and various environmental and municipal councils and land-use regulators in Alberta and BC.
