Demetre Vasilounis graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University, where he received the Dentons Canada LLP Award for academic excellence in the first two years of law school and for his significant contributions to Osgoode through his role as Vice Chair of its Student Caucus. He also received the Cassels Brock & Blackwell Prize for Professionalism and the Jenny Haggart Award for demonstrated commitment to community work. Prior to law school, he obtained an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Professional Writing from York University. There, he was awarded the Stong College Master’s Award for Academic Excellence. Demetre has been a Dean’s Fellow for Osgoode’s Civil Procedure course, a Division Leader in immigration law and criminal law at Community and Legal Aid Services Programme and a contributor to both Osgoode’s Obiter Dicta newspaper and York University’s Excalibur newspaper. Demetre currently volunteers as a Caseworker for the Refugee Sponsorship Support Program and as an ESL Teacher at St. Paul’s Anglican Church. In the past, Demetre has worked for the Liquor Control Board of Ontario, Sweet Lemon Productions, and EB Games. Demetre enjoys learning about Japanese popular culture, training in Muay Thai and Brazilian jiu-jitsu, producing short films, and playing guitar, ukulele and ocarina.

Demetre summered at the Firm in 2017 and was seconded to G Adventures.
