An internationally recognized litigation and dispute resolution lawyer, Eric van den Berg’s practice focuses on mining disputes involving traditional communities, as well as litigation in the property and media industries.

With experience litigating in most Courts in South Africa, Eric has had several matters heard in the Constitutional Court, most notably the striking down as unconstitutional the limits placed on the press in reporting matrimonial proceedings.

Acting for traditional communities, land owners, and mining houses on mining industry disputes, Eric has deep knowledge on access to land, and the review of prospecting awards and mining rights related to the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act, 2002 (MPRDA).

To capitalize on South Africa's changing mineral regime and to secure land titles, he advises traditional communities on their reorganization and corporatization of their traditional structures.
