How Do You Spell Bribery?
CFPOA, FCPA and the Bribery Act: a UK, Canadian and US Anti-Bribery Law Discussion

Featuring: Steven Beharrell from Fasken Martineau's London office, expert in UK's new anti-bribery law

Moderated by: Daniel Brock from Fasken Martineau's Ottawa Office

Anti-bribery legislation internationally is undergoing significant changes, considerably increasing the exposure of multinationals. From the introduction of the UK's new Bribery Act - now the 'high-water mark' of anti-bribery legislation - to markedly enhanced international cooperation and coordination between regulatory and prosecution authorities, stepped-up enforcement and a trend toward massive sanctions, it is imperative for Canadian multi-nationals not only to understand the letter of the law, but also how to create a corporate ethos of best practices in this area.

Recognizing the challenges inherent in implementing best practices and the difficulties management and employees encounter in navigating bribery issues that arise 'on-the-ground', this breakfast seminar will feature an interactive portion, moderated by Daniel Brock, involving both the panel and audience to problem-solve 'real-life' circumstances and the challenges they may present for management and employees.

This seminar will feature Steven Beharrell, of our London office, to speak on the implications of the new UK Bribery Act and the evolving transnational landscape for Canadian multinationals.

Steven will be joined on the panel by two other speakers, Martin Fisher-Haydis and Claudia Feldkamp who will provide an overview of the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and Canada's Corruption of Foreign Public Officials Act (CFPOA) respectively and participate in the panel and audience discussion moderated by Daniel Brock.
