Changes continue in relation to the BC Workers’ Compensation Act and WorkSafeBC policies. (“The BC Workers’ Compensation Act and WorkSafeBC policies continue to change”…?) This session will provide you with a quick overview of the workers’ compensation system in BC, and then delve into the specific areas of interest to managers, supervisors, human resource and health and safety practitioners. These areas include: Due diligence for employers – how to demonstrate the elements of due diligence in the workplace; Mental disorder in the workplace as a cause for injury and resulting compensation – what is the latest in legislative and policy development in BC and how it may affect your organization; Accident Investigations – when are they required and how to conduct them; and WCB Discrimination Complaints – a review of the process and tips on how to minimize such complaints and how to respond effectively to them.
