Register for our other Fasken Martineau at the PDAC seminars.
Panelists with industry expertise from around the world will discuss corporate grievance mechanisms as a critical part of any Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. One of the three pillars in Ruggie’s UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights is “Remedy”. It is widely accepted that, with respect to project-related human rights issues, the most effective remedy is a close-to-the-ground process that is operated by the company. Although most companies are open and willing to receive complaints, there is still plenty of work needed to demonstrate the benefits of having a formal process. Our panel will explore the hard work that has been done to develop grievance mechanism and provide practical examples of how they can be developed and some of the issues that may arise.
