Managing Excessive Absenteeism: A Realistic Challenge?
Fasken Martineau's Labour, Employment, Human Rights and Public Law group is pleased to invite you to its next flash training.
Speaker : Stéphane Fillion, Partner
Managing cases of high employee absenteeism can be an extremely arduous process. What constitutes excessive? Which absences should or shouldn't be taken into consideration when calculating absenteeism rates? This seminar will help answer these questions. Using summary tables, we will provide examples of absenteeism rates that have been recognized as excessive by case law. We will then demystify the key elements of managing absences attributable to multiple causes by looking at recent trends in case law and how the burden of proof has been reversed in such matters.
We will close with various recommendations on which approaches to favour when dealing with situations of excessive absenteeism.
This training is intended for supervisory staff, human resource advisors and all other managers who play a role in handling absenteeism.
