A presentation by the broad multi-disciplinary work group led by the Government of Canada, UNICEF and UNICEF Canada, and Barrick Gold that has created a tool for governments and companies to identify key steps in protecting children’s rights in the context of private and public security operations.
The working group is composed of leading governments, companies, civil society organizations, and consultancies. The tool takes the form of a checklist, and draws from the framework of the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights. The tool is the first phase of the project, which is designed to include model policies, training packets, and other materials to assist companies and governments in enhancing their security and human rights programs in the protection of children’s rights.
