After 10 years of negotiations, collaboration and hard work, First Quantum has resettled all indigenous people voluntarily from in and around the Cobre Panama project. This is one of the first relocations since the UN’s adoption of the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and it provides a model for achieving free, prior and informed consent in the Latin American context. Hear from the people responsible for managing the process for First Quantum, including some of those who worked in local communities, creating the relationships of trust that allowed this resettlement to be completed so successfully.
