On June 1, 2017, Bill 148, the Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act, 2017, was introduced and received first reading in the Ontario Legislature. If enacted, Bill 148 would, for the first time in two decades, make significant reforms to Ontario’s Employment Standards Act, 2000 and Labour Relations Act. Among other things, Bill 148 would seriously restrict Ontario employers’ ability to set different rates of pay for employees, impose limits on employer scheduling practices, and greatly increase unions’ ability to organize and gain bargaining rights for non-unionized workers.
During this seminar we will:
- Highlight the key changes and implications of Bill 148
- Discuss employer strategies to address the legislation
- Answer your questions about the future for Ontario workplaces
