The mining industry of Morocco is key to the national economy and although the country is home to a range of metals and minerals, the mining sector has long been dominated by phosphates. Indeed, Morocco is the world's second largest producer of phosphate and contains about 75% of the world's estimated reserves. The mining sector contributes up to 10% of Morocco’s GDP, with 90% of this coming from phosphates.
His Excellency the Minister Mr. Aziz Rabbah will be attending to present on trends, developments, business opportunities and where Morocco stands four years after the Mining Code’s reform. He will be accompanied by representatives from ONHYM, the Moroccan governmental institution that conducts research, exploration and exploitation of fuel sources and minerals, OCP Group, one of the leading exporters of phosphate rock, phosphoric acid and phosphate fertilizers in the world and Group Managem, Morocco's biggest miner.
Speakers will attend with the aim of attracting foreign investment in a more diverse range of strategic commodities.
