A crisis is any unexpected event with the potential to negatively impact an organization’s reputation, finances, or competitive standing in the marketplace. Legal teams play a critical role in a crisis – sometimes the primary player, but other times a secondary one engaging a less-than-ideal legal strategy to prioritize other imperatives in the best interest of the larger organization or client. How to determine the right approach and prioritize imperatives in collaboration with other departments is crucial, but not always easy.

Topics discussed:

  • How to avoid, plan for, and react to a crisis
  • How to form and manage a crisis response team
  • The role legal plays on a crisis response team
  • How to balance reputational, legal, operational, and other imperatives in a crisis
