Sexual harassment allegations have recently rocked the entertainment industry, the political sphere and beyond, raising society’s consciousness of the pervasiveness of sexual harassment in the workplace. We are now seeing #TimesUp and #AfterMeToo movements pushing the agenda for change and the threat of negative media exposure is causing more companies to re-examine how they deal with claims of workplace sexual harassment. This seminar will explore the impact of these movements against the backdrop of the legal framework that surrounds claims of harassment. Be prepared to hear about:

  • The legal framework for dealing with sexual harassment from understanding the human rights regime to the occupational health and safety legislation
  • Will we see more claims going to the Human Rights Tribunal and will there be increased damages arising out sexual harassment claims?
  • Guidelines for conducting investigations into sexual harassment when faced with higher expectations from complainants
  • The leadership and proactive steps required to change workplace culture
