The Occupational Health and Safety Act requires employers to provide training to at least two members of the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC), one representing management and one representing workers.
The first step in complying with the Part Two Certification process is for the employer to complete a workplace hazard assessment to determine "significant hazards". JHSC members who successfully complete Part One training are required to receive further training on the "significant hazards" specific to their workplace. This training must take place within 6 months of having completed Part One training.
This 2 day course reviews the common "significant hazards" of an office workplace, in accordance with Ministry of Labour program criteria. Office workplace hazard recognition, assessment, control and evaluation are the focus of this course and participants will review how to complete an Action Plan with employer recommendations based on hazards within their own workplace. Participants will also learn how to complete the process for becoming a certified member of the JHSC.
