Iñaki Navarrete joined the Fasken team after graduating with both civil law and common law degrees from the McGill Faculty of Law. He plans to enter the École du Barreau du Québec in the fall of 2018.


Iñaki served as a comparative law clerk for Mr. Hanan Melcer, Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Israel, and worked as a law clerk at the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. While there, he contributed to a number of major human rights cases, including the landmark Lagos del Campo v. Peru case, the first decision to recognize the direct enforceability of economic, social, and cultural rights within the Inter-American regional human rights system.


His contributions on international law have appeared or are forthcoming in leading journals such as the Cornell Journal of International Law, the Quebec Journal of International Law, and the Canadian Yearbook of International Law.
