Ivo Martinich is a litigation and dispute resolution lawyer in Vancouver. His practice includes class actions and commercial disputes.
Ivo completed his law degree at the Peter A. Allard School of Law at UBC. While in law school, Ivo received the David Roberts Prize in Legal Writing, as well as the Best Jury Address award in the Peter Burns Moot, a criminal mock trial competition. He also spent two terms as an exchange student, one at McGill University and one at Sciences Po in Paris. During these exchange terms he acquired a strong understanding of the civil law tradition, as well as European Union law. Ivo obtained a B.A. (Hons) in Political Science with International Relations from the University of British Columbia.
Prior to his legal studies, Ivo worked as a Student Recruiter for Simon Fraser University’s Francophone Affairs Office. In that position, Ivo visited more than 60 schools across the province, promoting bilingualism and encouraging students to pursue their post-secondary studies in French. Ivo also worked as the Coordinator of the Explore Program at UBC, a language-immersion program subsidized by the federal government which welcomes approximately 200 Quebecois students each year.
In his free time, Ivo enjoys reading novels, playing soccer or running on the seawall. Ivo is fluent in French and Spanish.
