Jean Masson practises in the areas of corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and more specifically, communications, natural resources (forests, mines) and transportation. He works in highly regulated sectors of activity and has developed an in-depth knowledge of the administrative and governmental machineries.
Jean acts for public and private sector clients on issues related to permits, contracts, licenses and franchises. A significant part of his practice is devoted to government relations, mines and mining financing, and the Plan Nord.
He has been present in this region for a number of years and supports mining companies with various aspects of their projects, such as obtaining permits, certificates and other required authorizations, developing access infrastructure, building roads, railroads or airports, energy supply and obtaining public funding for such infrastructure. He has published articles and delivered presentations on the Plan Nord.
Among his noteworthy professional accomplishments, Jean co-directed the first public-private partnership in Quebec, which won several prestigious awards for the design, construction, financing and completion of Highway 25 in the vicinity of Montréal.
