Karl Delwaide has a reputation as a seasoned lawyer in the areas of public law and privacy and information protection law. He is one of the founders of the firm’s national Privacy and Information Protection group. Karl advises private companies and public bodies in these areas and represents them before the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec and other courts or tribunals, including the Federal Court.
A large part of Karl’s practice is devoted to administrative, regulatory, disciplinary and constitutional law. He was counsel for the Government of Quebec for many years. Through his experience, he has acquired thorough expertise in declaratory judgments, injunctions and judicial review, and also in the field of economic regulation.
Karl has vast experience and has won many complex cases. As such, he is recognized as one of the few Quebec litigators with solid knowledge of every court and tribunal in matters of privacy and information protection. This is why he was asked to co-author the reference work on this subject.
He has comprehensive knowledge of cybersecurity, access to information and the protection of personal information. Passionate about this field, he founded the firm’s national Privacy and Information Protection group.

One of Karl’s biggest assets is his unique knowledge of the machinery of government and the regulatory system governing the marketing of agricultural products and the protection of agricultural land. He represents clients such as buyers/processors of agricultural products and pipeline or mining companies in agricultural zoning matters.
Karl also advises film and television producers and broadcasters in cases of libel and defamation or that may affect the reputation or “privacy” of individuals or corporations.
