Kase Mahlaku is a partner in Fasken’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice group based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Kase's in-depth experience in litigation matters is an accumulation of more than 13 years' in advising clients on drafting legal documents including pleadings, notices, applications, and opinions. He has extensive experience in managing litigation matters from inception to execution including running trials, arbitrations, and hearings in other dispute resolution tribunals. Kase manages litigation cases with a strategic eye, this includes consultations with clients, understanding client requirements, briefing of counsel and relevant experts. He has experience advising clients on magistrate, high court, supreme court and constitutional court cases. In addition, Kase advisors clients in business rescue, restructurings, turnaround strategies and liquidations.
Kase’s experience across industries is diverse. He began his legal career as a candidate attorney at Deneys Reitz (now Norton Rose Fulbright). He was admitted as an attorney in 2009. In 2011 he joined Bowmans as a senior associate and then went on to working as in-house legal at a multinational commercial banks and at the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa (IDC), a development finance institution that funds the energy, infrastructure, agriculture, chemicals and industrial products, mining, textiles, transport and services sectors. With his more than six years of in-house experience Kase’s strength lies in understanding both the client’s needs and advising clients to navigate complex litigious matters.
Kase believes in the power of mentorship. He is a former mentor at the Wits School of Law Student Mentorship Programme and he is a supporter for mentorship programs and has a passion for career development for youth, which includes running mentorship workshops and advocating for youth skills-development.
