Layne Hellrung is a litigation and dispute resolution lawyer practicing in Vancouver. Representing clients in business and real estate disputes, Layne appears before all levels of court in British Columbia and in mediation and arbitration proceedings.
Layne brings a proactive and pragmatic approach to resolving disputes. In business cases, he routinely acts on behalf of shareholders, partners and investors. In many of these cases, the control or ownership of a business is at stake, there are allegations of fraud or there is a dispute related to a party's contractual rights.
His real estate litigation practice involves claims arising from real estate development and failed purchase and sale transactions. He also represents parties in leasing disputes and in expropriation claims.
Taking steps before a claim is started or early in the litigation process can have an important impact on reducing cost. Layne assists clients in assessing and managing legal risk and provides strategic pre-litigation advice and opinions.
Layne is active in the business and legal community. He serves as the legal advisor for the B.C. Chamber of Commerce. He co-chaired CLE-BC’s course on real estate litigation in 2016 and its course on litigation misconduct in 2017.
