Seasoned litigator, Martin F. Sheehan, Ad.E. is the Co-leader of Fasken’s National Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice group. Martin acts on behalf of companies and professionals in the areas of commercial, professional and product liability. He appears before courts of all jurisdictions, including the Supreme Court of Canada, and has in-depth knowledge of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.

Martin is recognized by his peers as a leading commercial and product liability litigator in Canada. He is a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers an invitation only fellowship of exceptional trial lawyers of diverse backgrounds from the United States and Canada. The Bar of Quebec has recognised him as “Advocatus Emeritus (Ad.E.)” an award granted to members of the Bar who have distinguished themselves by the excellence of their professional career, their exceptional contribution to the profession or their influence in the community, which has had positive repercussions on the legal profession.

He defends manufacturers, importers and distributors of industrial and consumer products in individual or class actions. He works with public and investor  relations departments to manage product recalls.

He also helps companies involved in class actions based on breaches of the Consumer Protection Act or other related laws.

His expertise in civil liability covers a variety of areas. Martin defends airlines and aircraft manufacturers, as well as a wide range of professionals (architects, engineers, accountants, bailiffs, brokers, lawyers, pharmacists, psychologists, and real estate agents).

He provides creative solutions to problems that arise during major construction and technology projects, whether it involves disputes over schedule or cost overruns, contract termination or disputes on the scope of the contract.  Martin regularly delivers seminars during which he shares tips and advice on project management.
