Matthew Welch’s practice is focused on political law. He advises clients on their engagement with government actors, including compliance with lobbying and election law. Matthew is pleased to provide advice on matters ranging from regulatory compliance to enforcement proceedings and investigations.
Matthew Welch is part of Fasken's Political Law Group. He joined the firm after articling at the Military Police Complaints Commission of Canada, a tribunal with a mandate to investigate complaints against the Canadian Armed Forces military police.
Prior to articling, Matt worked for a number of years at Global Affairs Canada, in international assistance policy development and the real property bureau. He has also completed a Master of Laws (LL.M) from the University of Ottawa, with a focus on administrative law.
During his education, Matt had the opportunity to intern with the Office of the Commissioner of Lobbying of Canada, and has worked in various capacities on and around Parliament Hill.
