Fasken Martineau today announced the upcoming sixth annual edition of its Montréal Symposium.

Montréal (Canada) - Fasken Martineau, a leading international business law and litigation firm, today announced the upcoming sixth annual edition of its Montréal Symposium.

Close to 750 corporate and in-house counsel will attend this event to receive information on the latest developments on current issues in the legal world.

The Fasken Martineau Symposium will also include a breakfast conference with Jean-François Bouchard, CEO and co-founder of Sid Lee, which was named Canada's "Agency of the Year" by Marketing Magazine for the fourth year running.

"The response we have received from 750 participating in-house counsel shows just how important Fasken Martineau's Symposium is. The practice of law encompasses far more than just the legal aspects. A lawyer is a company's business partner, and our Symposium is an opportunity to demonstrate this affiliation. Our firm stands out in our understanding of this partnership, and we are pleased that the Symposium has become an annual tradition for our colleagues. I would like to thank Jean-François Bouchard for having agreed to be a guest speaker this year," said Éric Bédard, Managing Partner for the firm's Québec region.

The Symposium's workshops will allow participants to accumulate up to four hours of training under the Québec Bar's mandatory continuing education program and will touch on legal issues such as:

  • Maintaining and developing head offices in Québec: presentation and discussion of the recommendations made by the Task Force on the Protection of Québec Businesses
  • Privacy and Canada's Anti-Spam Act
  • Merger and acquisition trends
  • Hydrocarbons on Anticosti – Legal issues
  • Crowd-Funding 101 : Raising capital on the Internet

This event will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, from 7:45 am to 2:00 pm at the Centre Mont-Royal, 2200 Mansfield Street in Montréal.

Members of the press who would like to attend the Symposium are invited to contact Karen Lafleur at (514) 397-4396 or by email at
