“The Morning Risk Report: Activists Make a Mark in Canada” by Gregory J. Millman, The Wall Street Journal

The Wall Street Journal mentions Fasken Martineau and its 2015 Proxy Contest Study in an article about proxy contest trends.

Excerpt:

A new report from the Canadian law firm Fasken Martineau finds “management winning more contests in Canada,” based on an analysis of the 2014 proxy year. Fasken Martineau’s 2015 update to its Canadian Proxy Contest Study, first published in 2013, noted that management had won 12 of 15 proxy contests in 2014, and only one contest ended with a settlement. It was, the law firm wrote, “management’s first winning record since 2011.”

The 2015 Update is co-authored by M&A partners Bradley Freelan and Aaron Atkinson. It is the second annual update to the firm’s empirical study of proxy contests in Canada by the M&A Group.
