“GNWT stand-in for lobbyist registry lacking: expert” by Megan Wohlberg, The Northern Journal

The Northern Journal quotes Toronto Lawyer Guy in an article about the need for transparency around lobbying and how the new measures taken by territorial government are a positive first step, but not a viable replacement.

“Typically, a lobbyist industry applies to the lobbying of everybody in the executive and legislative branches of government, so that would mean MLAs, ministers, staff members, deputy ministers, everybody in the department – everybody,” he said. “This is talking about transparency for the lobbying of seven people.”

Further, Giorno said lobbyist registries tend to cover all forums for lobbying, including meetings, phone calls, emails, texts, letters and so on.
