The Journal du Barreau du Québec mentions Montréal Lawyer Joanie Lapalme in an article on the Arts-Business Award of the Conseil des Arts de Montréal.
The Arts-Business Award was awarded to Mtre Joanie Lapalme, who was nominated by the Opéra de Montréal. A lawyer with Fasken Martineau, Mtre Lapalme has been a member of the Opéra de Montréal board of directors since 2015. She co-founded the Young Associates Committee of the Opéra de Montréal in 2009 and has been the chair since 2013. The Committee’s goal is to renew its audience, reach out to the corporate milieu and mobilize young professionals. During the past season, the Committee’s network reached over 500 professionals, 50% of whom attended the Opera for the first time! The committee’s unique structure makes it a role model for Montréal’s cultural scene. By launching the Night at the Opera benefit event, Mtre Lapalme, who is passionate about art, was able to revitalize private funding by building bridges between the generations. The jury was also impressed with her involvement in other artistic organizations, such as the Association des galeries d’art contemporain, Simoniaques Théâtre, Sixtrum and the MSO.
