Droit-inc. quotes Montréal lawyer Antoine Aylwin in an article about his involvement with the Barreau du Québec.
Antoine Aylwin wanted to become a lawyer to change the world. “I believe in the social role that lawyers play —that we have an obligation to contribute to society. Any legislative change is based on legal reasoning. For this reason, the Barreau is a key player in society,” the Fasken Martineau partner said, justifying his involvement with the professional association.
His belief also explains his decision to come back and run for a second term. He was elected a board member from Montreal on the first board of directors under new leadership. Mr. Aylwin believes the Barreau is now equipped to deal with major professional issues. He maintains that “that is the Barreau’s role” as the BOD prepares to finish work on facta regarding five bills.
