Fasken partner publishes competition law book

Reading Time 2 minute read

Toronto (Canada) – Fasken Partner Antonio (Tony) Di Domenico has published his first book, Competition Enforcement and Litigation in Canada.

The book is a 1100 page in-depth handbook on all aspects of Canadian competition law, with a focus on competition enforcement and litigation. It seeks to be a teaching tool for those newer to the topic and a reference guide for experienced practitioners. The range of areas covered include criminal and civil investigations, criminal offences and civil reviewable practices, merger notification and review, Competition Tribunal litigation and class actions.

“I wanted to create a book that provides a thorough and practical guide on all aspects of competition enforcement and litigation in Canada,” said Tony Di Domenico, a Partner in Fasken’s Toronto office. “The book tries to offer a practical overview of the analytical framework required to effectively examine competition law issues.”

Canada’s former Commissioner of Competition, John Pecman, authored the forward of the book. "In my over 30 years of work at the Competition Bureau, I didn’t have access to such a complete handbook,” said Pecman. “Not only does it provide the treatment of the law and the relevant guidelines in the Competition Act, it is also sprinkled with Tony’s insight as a seasoned practitioner."

Tony is a leading competition lawyer and advises on all aspects of Canadian competition law. He is the Co-Leader of the Antitrust/Competition & Marketing (“ACM”) Group. As former counsel to Canada's Commissioner of Competition, Tony now represents parties in merger reviews, civil and criminal investigations, litigated proceedings before the Competition Tribunal and class action litigation.

Fasken's ACM Group members assist and guide clients through merger clearance and foreign investment reviews for Canadian and international M&A transactions and across all aspects of antitrust/competition and marketing law.
