Montréal (Canada) – Jennifer Stoddart, O.C., AdE was recently admitted as a Knight to the Ordre national du Québec (National Order of Quebec), the highest honour bestowed by the Quebec Government. Insignia will be presented to 43 prominent Quebecers at a virtual ceremony during a broadcast on June 22, 2021.
Recognized as a leader in the field of privacy, Jennifer is a strategic advisor within the Privacy and Cybersecurity Group at Fasken. Previously, she held a number of senior positions in the public service of both Quebec and Canada.
Jennifer was the Privacy Commissioner of Canada from 2003 to 2013. In that position, she oversaw numerous investigations involving the virtual world. Starting in 2014, she co-chaired a number of working committees of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). She is a member of the board of directors of Génome Québec.
Jennifer is co-author of the book "Quebec Women: A History". She was named honorary Colonel of the 34th Combat Engineer Regiment (Montréal).
Since its founding in 1984, the Board of the Ordre national du Québec has recommended nominees to the Prime Minister each year following an evaluation of nominations submitted by the public.
