Montréal (Canada) - Fasken Martineau, a leading international business and litigation firm, is pleased to announce that Jean Pierre Desrosiers has received an honorary doctorate from Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) during a recognition event held on October 14 at the Théâtre du Rideau Vert.
This distinction celebrates Mr. Desrosier's exceptional contribution to the theatrical arts. A half-dozen prominent individuals, including the vice-chancellor of UQAM, Robert Proulx; the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and the Dean of the École des sciences de la gestion gathered on the dais to present the honorary diploma to its recipient. The ceremony was followed by a presentation of Gabriel Sabourin's "Le Prince des Jouisseurs".
"I would like to congratulate our colleague Jean Pierre on receiving this prestigious award, which is evidence of his significant philanthropic generosity in the cultural community over these many years," said Éric Bédard, the firm's Managing Partner for the Québec region.
Over the years, Mr. Desrosiers has received several notable distinctions, including the 2011 Prix Arts-Affaires de Montréal in the Arts/Business Personality category to mark his active involvement in culture, as well as the 2013 Ramon John Hnatyshyn Award as part of the Governor General awards in recognition of his voluntary service to the performing arts.
