Toronto (Canada)Fasken announced today that partners Claire Vachon and Ian Campbell are available to discuss the provisions of the Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act 2017 (also known as “Bill 148”), which are scheduled to take effect as of April 1, 2018. These new requirements will require Ontario employers to pay casual, part-time, temporary and seasonal employees, who are doing substantially the same work as full-time/permanent employees, the same rate of pay as full-time/permanent employees.

The new legislative requirements provide mechanisms for casual, part-time temporary or seasonal employees to request wage reviews if they believe they are being paid less than full-time/permanent employees performing substantially the same work.

Claire is the Labour, Employment and Human Rights group leader and Ian has written a number of articles and spoken at seminars on Bill 148. Therefore, both can explain and add context to your stories about these new changes.

With one of the largest national labour, employment and human rights practices in Canada, Fasken has been very involved in the Bill 148 space. Our Featured Solutions hub sets out all that we have covered on the topic.

Members of the media who would like to speak with Claire or Ian may contact Geneviève Chalifour +1 514 871 5987 (gchalifour@fasken.com).
