Oliver recently completed his second year of law school at Thompson Rivers University where he received the Fulton & Co. LLP Entrance Award and the Law Foundation of BC Entrance Scholarship. After his first year of studies, he was awarded four Dean’s Course Prizes and the Alvin & Lydia Grunert Scholarship for finishing with the highest GPA across all years in the Faculty of Law. As well, he received the Guild Yule LLP Advocacy Prize and the Guild Yule LLP Outstanding First Year Moot Court Prize.
In his second year at Thompson Rivers University, Oliver served as an orientation week leader and started the Faculty of Law Golf Club. He was also an Assistant Editor for the Journal of Comparative and Contemporary Law, worked as a Teaching Assistant for two first year law courses, and acted as a Research Assistant for the Dean of Law Bradford Morse. Oliver additionally had the opportunity of representing Thompson Rivers University alongside three of his colleagues at the 2017 Hockey Arbitration Competition of Canada in Toronto. Following the completion of his second year, he was awarded the Dean’s Course Prize in Administrative Law and was again placed on the Dean’s list.
Prior to entering law school, Oliver completed a Bachelor of Arts (Hon.) at Queen’s University and a Master of Social Work at the University of British Columbia (Okanagan). As part of his graduate degree, Oliver facilitated domestic violence workshops across elementary schools in Kelowna and worked with youth in contact with the criminal justice system. He spent most of his summers in the hospitality industry.
In his spare time, Oliver enjoys golfing and following the Houston Astros. He joins us in May for summer articles and will be clerking for the British Columbia Court of Appeal after graduation.
