Patrice Vachon advises entrepreneurs and family owned businesses on a wide variety of matters, be they human, strategic, business, commercial or related to family matters.  He is known for his vast expertise in corporate acquisitions and sales, franchising, distribution and agency agreements, equity and venture capital financings, governance, formation of partnerships, non for profits organizations, shareholders’ and other agreements, and for resolving shareholders’ disputes and tense negotiations.

Patrice is passionate about demographic issues and everything concerning business transfers and successions. His human side and passion for helping others have earned him a reputation when handling “business transfers and successions”. He supports CEOs, CFOs and other senior management optimize the value of their company prior to a transfer or resale (Business Staging©).

Patrice develops and implements all kinds of personalized corporate, tax and estate planning. He played and continues to play a decisive, leading role in the success of numerous small, medium or large businesses. 

Patrice is a highly sought-after speaker. He enjoys coaching and mentoring and sits on family councils, boards of directors and advisory boards. He has been recognized by his peers as a leading business lawyer in Canada in the SME and mid-market sector.

Patrice is also very interested in sharing knowledge. He has published many books, articles and works of interest, including “La vente d’entreprise - achat et vente d’entreprises”, a book ahead of its time.

Patrice trained chartered accountants on the new Civil Code after it was introduced in 1994. He teaches at the third grade on business law at the HEC Montréal. He also taught for several years at the École du Barreau du Québec, where he was in charge of the section on the financial aspects of the practice of law and wrote the teaching documentation.  Patrice is a man of action, structured, passionate, a motivator and engaged.

  • Has been on the board of the Québec Branch of the Canadian Bar Association for four years, and will be the board president as of May 2008.
  • For six years, he was Secretary and member of the Board of Directors of the Sainte-Justine Hospital Foundation.
  • He gives a great many speeches on matters to do with demographic issues, business succession problems and labour shortage concerns, seeking to inform leaders and decision-makers and urge the taking of action to address the major issues and challenges lying ahead for the economy, society, families, government and businesses in Québec.
