Peter Mangaly is an Articling Student in Fasken's Ottawa office.
Peter completed his Juris Doctor degree at the University of Windsor, Faculty of Law where he was actively involved within the community, serving as an executive on eleven different organizations and committees. Peter received a Global Legal Certificate specializing in International Economic Law and Sustainability from his time spent on a study exchange in Switzerland. He has also earned a Specialized Honours Bachelor of Commerce in Finance. Prior to law school, Peter worked as an educator at a renowned private high school, teaching courses including International Business, Economics, and Physics. Recently, Peter launched his own successful Japanese and Korean inspired clothing business, which rapidly gained widespread attention and was sought out for international partnerships. Additionally, Peter’s recent project was shortlisted at the World Intellectual Property Organization and in recognition of this achievement, he received a formal invitation of membership with the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada.
Peter is passionate about giving back to the community which is reflected in his active participation with community organizations and the initiatives he spearheads. He worked as a Research Assistant for several notable organizations including a nationally leading NGO specializing in strategizing housing policy reform across the country; at an environmental NPO where his research and recommendations were instrumental in litigation against the federal government regarding climate change; and at a world renowned educational institute, where he led the strategic efforts and specialized research on Indigenous environmental justice, publishing a report that was referenced in the Canadian Federal Budget.
In his spare time, Peter enjoys travelling having explored over 20 different countries, painting (although he is not very good), discovering the newest trends in fashion, and cheering on the Calgary Flames.
