Dofasco and Atlas Tube sell Copperweld Bimetallics for US$10.5 million

On April 28, 2006, Dofasco Inc. and Atlas Tube Inc. completed the sale of Copperweld Bimetallics, LLC to Copperweld Holdings LLC for a purchase price of US $10.5 million, subject to certain adjustments. Copperweld Bimetallics LLC is the world's largest producer of bimetallic wire and strand products for use in cable television, telecommunications, utility, electronics, and other industrial and transit applications with locations in the Unites States and England. Dofasco and Atlas acquired their interest in the company as part of the $350 million acquisition by Atlas and Dofasco of the businesses formerly conducted by the Copperweld group of companies which closed in October 2005. Dofasco was represented by Tom Ferns, Senior Counsel, and by Fasken Martineau with a team led by Sean Stevens and including Munier Saloojee (corporate), and Lisa Abe, Armand Benitah and Elizabeth Gouthro (IP).
