On March 14, 2008, North Castle Partners, based in Greenwich, Connecticut, announced that it had acquired the assets of International Fitness, Inc. ("World Health Club"). World Health Club is a leading operator of fitness clubs in the province of Alberta, Canada. North Castle is a leading private equity firm focused exclusively on investments in consumer-driven product and service businesses that benefit from "Healthy Living and Aging" trends. The terms of the investment were not disclosed. North Castle Partners' Canadian legal advisor on this transaction was Fasken Martineau with a team that included, among others: Stephen Erlichman, Richard Peters, Wojtek Baraniak and Martin Fisher-Haydis (corporate/securities); Brian Wright and Gary Rose (banking); Ronald Nobrega (tax) and Paul Casuccio (commodity tax); Martin Denyes (employment); Mark Penner (intellectual property); and Dugan Edmison (real estate).
