Emerisque Brands completes CCAA acquisition of Hartmarx and Coppley

On August 7, 2009, SKNL NA and Emerisque Brands announced that they had completed the acquisition of assets of apparel maker Hartmarx Corporation from bankruptcy. In a separate but related transaction, the purchasers acquired substantially all of the assets of Coppley Apparel Group Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hartmarx. The Coppley transaction took place in proceedings under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act (Canada). BDO Dunwoody, the Monitor in the Coppley CCAA proceedings, was represented by Fasken Martineau with a team consisting of Edmond Lamek and Stuart Brotman.
