Stacey Smydo practices as a member of Fasken’s Communications Law group with a particular emphasis on copyright and trade-mark law.

Stacey practices copyright litigation and has acted in matters before the Federal Court, Federal Court of Appeal, and the Copyright Board. She also works in government relations on copyright law reform and drafts copyright and entertainment law agreements.

Stacey joined Fasken after clerking at the Federal Court of Appeal. After law school, she worked as Senior Advisor to a Member of Parliament. She studied common and civil law at McGill University Faculty of Law where she became passionate about intellectual property and communications law. During her time at McGill, Stacey worked as a Research Assistant at the Centre for Intellectual Property Policy and was English Executive Editor of the McGill Law Journal. She summered with the firm in 2016.

When not advising clients, Stacey is likely attending a concert, playing hockey, or planning her next hiking trip.
