Valerie Eisen is a senior associate in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications practice in Fasken's Toronto office. She works primarily with emerging companies in a variety of industries, established science- and information technology-focused clients, and with private equity and venture capital firms.
Valerie has extensive experience with domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, financings, and corporate reorganizations. She frequently advises on a broad variety of commercial matters, and on privacy and CASL compliance. She works with our firm’s information technology, intellectual property, business law and emerging technology groups and has successfully negotiated numerous joint venture agreements, shareholders’ agreements, master service agreements, license agreements, technology transfer and royalty sharing agreements, professional service agreements, procurement agreements, and transition services agreements for the firm’s clients. She has a particular interest in autonomous vehicle deployments and has acted for clients on related matters.
Valerie holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) and a Master of Business Administration with a specialization in entrepreneurship and innovation. She spent two years on client work assignment with Sidewalk Labs in Toronto, acting as lead internal counsel for the company’s prominent public-private partnership with Waterfront Toronto in addition to handling commercial intellectual property, information technology and corporate matters.
Outside of her practice, Valerie is a member of the Canadian Technology Law Association (Can-Tech, formerly IT.Can) and the Ontario Bar Association. She enjoys kayaking, yoga, and discussions about the green economy.
