William Deneault-Rouillard joined the Fasken team in May 2017, after completing the third year in the Bachelor of Law program at Université Laval. William completed the Barreau du Québec’s professional training program in the fall of 2017 and is pursuing a master’s degree in information technology law prior to articling with the firm. His research is focused on reconciling the right to privacy and the growth of big data fuelling artificial intelligence algorithms.
Before studying law, William obtained a certificate in business administration. While a law student, he was involved with a national pro bono student network and contributed to creating a non-profit organization that provides assistance dogs for people with mental health issues. He also volunteered with the legal information clinic at Université Laval.
William dedicated over 10 years to swimming, including at the national level. He placed among the best breaststroke sprinters in the country in his age group. He also loves downhill skiing and running, and competes in several long distance races every year.
Guided by his passion for the unknown, William spent the Fall 2016 semester studying abroad at the Université de Montpelier in France. This year, he plans to take an intensive summer course on the impact of new technologies on the law at the International School of Law and Technology in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
