Trident Royalties PLC ("Trident"), a growth-focused diversified mining royalty and streaming company, was sued by Lithium Royalty Corporation (“LRC”) in respect to a lithium royalty in Nevada. LRC claimed that it had already entered into a binding contract to purchase the royalty which Trident then bought from Orion Mine Finance Fund for approximately US$28 million. Fasken successfully brought a motion challenging the jurisdiction of the Ontario courts over Trident. On November 22, 2021, the Superior Court ruled in favour of Trident and stayed LRC’s application against it.
